The specialists for adventurous mountain biking !

After 15 years at the helm of the mountain sports and canyoneering outfit Poco Loco Adventures, Koen & Anne Viaene-Nelissen decided to put all their know-how into their new, nothing-but mountain biking guide's office: El Camino Loco.

More than a dozen years ago we pioneered with Poco Loco the long-distance Coast to Coast traverse of the Pyrenees, since then we refined and now even completely changed our CTC for an unedited, longer and tougher raid between the two seas. After adding the Ruta del Cid and a shorter raid in Alto Aragon the demand for more of our signature routes kept growing.

With El Camino Loco we present a unique mtb raid program, with mayor accents on tough, unedited routes and adventurous biking. Enjoy the many photos on this site and remember: they pale when compared to the real experience of biking in those impressive landscapes !

Patrick: joined us on our very first Coast to Coast and kind of kept hanging around. He's like good wine, he gets better with aging - goes into his 12th year as mtb guide !

Maxim: got saddled up with our helmet cam on his first stint as mountain bike guide and the results were so convincing that we didn't want him to leave. A lot of the video footage on this website are his.

El Rudi: allround mountain man, great and resourceful mechanic (McGyver pales in comparison) and tranquility reincarnated. If he isn't able to keep your bike going, it's definitely ripe for the junkyard.

Koen: knows the Pyrenees and the Spanish interior better than the Spaniards themselves, especially where there's no road. Scouted as owner and senior guide of Poco Loco Adventures during 16 years all the nooks and crannies of those great mountains, deserts, canyons and plains. He has bundled all that knowledge in El Camino Loco.

Kurt: impossible to wipe that smile from his face, guides the last 10 years our groups in the Pyrenees, on and off the bike.

José Antonio: the most out-of-form person south of the Pyrenees, wouldn't know a bike if it bit him in the butt... but he does know everybody, and we mean everybody out there, and is an incredible "fixer", great chauffeur and pampers people just because it makes him feel good. Ask him something and he'll arrange it for you !

Hans: roams the dirt roads between the mountains since a long, long time, has special interests in "his" Alto Aragon and Ruta del Cid.

Jeroen: our gung-ho new kid on the block, way too cool & fast for us old farts and our UK specialist.

Jan: this guy prepares the gps units, manages everybody's pictures and videos on his laptop, readies the picknick, scouts promising new trails and handles his bike at such a speed and efficiency that it makes your head spin. The only moment he kind-of relaxes is when he's the "last guide out" at the back of the group, but even then he's always on the lookout for a great shot or movie clip.

Anne: wife and partner-in-crime of Koen, co-owner of first Poco Loco and of course now of El Camino Loco. Since motherhood her outdoor escapades have been less frequent but she's the tranquil force who keeps things running. She speaks such a fluent Spanish that Spaniards can't figure out from what part of the country she's from. She's keeping that tandem mtb ready for the moment the kids (three daughters !) can be left alone a while to pick up her old form.
