Since our very first raid we conceived all our trips in such a way that everybody could be an "individual within a group". Biking in the mountains and/or on technical terrain should be possible on your own speed-of-choice. Otherwise you either have to perform under pressure, or suffer too long waits.

That’s why since 16 years already we have been organizing mountain bike tours in which you can layout your own daily schedule and choose your own pace.

Many years ago we had a good navigation system, consisting of a detailed and up-to-date roadbook additionally backed up with markers along the route which were put in place the day before. But as soon as the GPS (global positioning system) satellite navigation system became accurate enough, we instantly made the switch and haven't regretted it since.

A GPS unit receives signals from geo-stationary sattelites (which don't change their position vs. the earth, they rotate along with it). By receiving multiple signals from orbit, it can triangulate and log your exact position, speed, direction and altitude - everywhere on earth.

When the US which operates the system dropped the built-in 300 yard fault margin for civil GPS use, it finally became the best suited navigational system for our mountain bike raids. We invested in a trunkload of units and since then our guests bike with an even bigger smile through the mountains !

On all our regular mtb raids the participants have such a personal unit at their disposal, together with a handlebar or stem mount and rechargeable batteries and back-ups. In 2008 we upgraded our GPS units to the latest state-of-the-art ones with a more powerful antenna and more battery capacity. Reception of satellite signals and pinpoint accuracy is even more improved and keeps you right on track, guaranteeing a carefree navigation experience.

You don't navigate on a map or through a series of waypoints, but you follow the "breadcrumbs track" we pre-recorded for you while scouting the tour, which shows as a thick line on your screen. All you have to do is to keep yourself “on track” : any deviation is spotted almost immediately. This way you can enjoy these great tours on your own pace.

Even when you want to take it real easy you'll never be alone, as one of our guides bikes along and always stays as the very last person.
