The Copper Canyon are a vast canyon systeem in the northwest of Mexico, in the Chihuahua province. Together they are bigger and deeper than the Grand Canyon: a very spectacular landscape !

A spider’s web of little foot trails traced over the ages by the Tarahumara indians make it an absolute heaven for bikers.

The Tarahuma retreated ever further into the canyons, away from western civilization. They still live

scattered over Copper Canyon, in small and stark settlements that are only reacheable on foot.

It is mainly these trails we will bike : endless roller coaster single tracks at 2400m altitude, on volcanic rock providing enormous grip for your tires.

The laps over these single tracks count relatively few altimeters and distance, but are physically exacting because of “interval” exertions: you regularly go into the red while mastering obstacles. Sufficient technical experience is needed in this terrain full of stairs, short turns, steep descents and temperamental ascents.

We trade these trails a few days for fast tracks down unbelievably deep canyons, where your eyes won’t suffize to grasp the majesty of nature.

On the plateau we usually stay in a little hotel in Creel, alternated with campfire bivouacs in the canyons. Stays in small hostels and bivouacs.
